Surgery for varicose veins:

Surgical techniques for varicose veins has been undergoing quite radical change. New minimally invasive techniques such as Endovenous Laser Treatment (EVLT) and foam sclerotherapy have been gaining in popularity with surgeons and patients due to faster recovery time and less pain associated with the minimally invasive techniques.

Whilst open surgery for varicose veins is still the treatment of choice for some patients, many people with varicose veins can be offered the newer minimally invasive options, often under local anaesthetic.
